Smoulder
The Mango Ensemble, The Cavendish Arms (2025)
A prison cell in 2125. Mag and Mog are both accused of witchcraft. But does witchcraft even really exist? And do people really mean what they say here, or are they simply telling stories for survival?
Smoulder is a political short play that blends elements of magical realism and absurdism and explores ideas of retribution, radicalisation, protest and sacrifice.
It was performed at the Mango Ensemble’s Charity Scratch Night on 21st July 2025, where we collectively raised nearly £500 in support of MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians).
